Towards Good Lives exists in response to national efforts towards a national disability insurance scheme ( NDIS), commenced in 2007, resulting from submissions to the government's “2020 summit” in 2007.
The nature of Towards Good Lives ”
Towards Good Lives is a small group of people, who joined in a personal capacity, and who share common values and beliefs. Read our amendments to the NDIS feasibility study's terms of reference here.
Purpose
In the interests of a truly participative and informed national debate, and to maximise the chances of achieving any national disability scheme(s), such as NDIS, that has the potential to be a facilitator towards good lives for people with disabilities, the purpose of Towards Good Lives is to do any such things, within its limited resources, that may lead to this aim.
Rationale
Towards Good Lives believes that the values and processes that are evident in advancing the National Disability Insurance Scheme as it is currently described in the Disability Investment Groups report, the Productivity Commission's terms of reference, and in the process of this NDIS campaign, it is not likely to result in good lives for people with disabilities, and may worsen the status quo.
